Test and Competition Revisions Effective

Freestyle Tests
Freestyle 6 Add the "Serpentine"
Dance Step Sequence previously required in the
Freestyle 8 test.
Freestyle 7 Add a combination spin that
includes a flying spin and at least four different
body positions with at least one change of foot.
Each body position must be held for a minimum of
three revolutions.Example for Added FS 7 Maneuver /

Freestyle
8 Add
the Double Flip Jump previously required in
Freestyle 9. Remove the "Serpentine and
Straight Line" Dance Step sequences as a choice
for this level. Leave the "Circular"
pattern as the requirement for this level.
Freestyle 9 Remove the Double Flip Jump from
this test. Add an Arabesque/Bauer/Spread Eagle
sequence that covers the entire ice surface in a
serpentine pattern that demonstrates grace,
creativity, speed and flow. Add the "Straight
Line" Dance Step sequence previously required
in Freestyle 8. Any order and combination of these
moves are acceptable.
Freestyle 10 Add a Dance Step Sequence of the
skater's own design that covers the entire ice
surface. This sequence should demonstrate the
skater's creativity through the use of a variety of
the most difficult turns and edges. Speed and flow
should be superior.
Couple Tests
Couple 5 Replace the two Loop Jumps
side-by-side "choice" with a Flip-Loop
Jump Combination side-by-side.
Ice
Dancing Tests
Skaters are no longer
required to have passed the Delta test in order to
take Ice Dancing tests. Listed below are the new
requirements for each level.

Alternating Forward Chasses in Kilian position, to
2/4 music, as described in the Skater's and Coaches
Handbook. Alternating Forward Progressives in Kilian
position, to 2 / 4 music, as described in the
Skater's and Coaches Handbook.
Ice Dancing 2 Alternating Forward Swing Rolls
in Kilian position, to 3/4 music, as described in
the Skater's and Coaches Handbook.

Dutch Waltz
Ice Dancing 3 The Rhythm Blues and the
Canasta Tango
Ice Dancing 4 The Swing Dance, the Cha Cha,
and the Fiesta Tango
Ice Dancing 5 The Willow Waltz and the
Hickory Hoedown

International Dance Tests
ISI is developing an International Dance Test
Program. This will be offered at various National
events as an exhibition event. We anticipate that
these dances will be tested in any order.

Free Dance Tests
ISI is also developing a Free Dance Test Program.
This newly created category of Dance Tests will
require the skater to have passed the Delta test. We
encourage skaters to explore participation in the
existing ISI free dance competition events in
preparation for these new tests.
Competition Rule Revisions
Artistic Event Program length increases to 2
minutes for Freestyle 6-10 levels.
Couple Events New requirement for Couple 5.

Ice Dancing Events Skaters are no longer
required to have passed the Delta test; therefore
skaters of any levels may participate in these
events.
New requirements for all levels.
Solo
Compulsories
Skaters are no longer required to perform the
selected maneuvers in a required order. This
eliminates the penalty for performing maneuvers out
of order. Additional maneuvers, such as any jump,
spin, or gliding maneuver from a test level or any
uncaptured move, are not allowed.
Spotlight Events Program length increases to
2 minutes for Freestyle 6-10 events.
Team
Compulsories Teams of 7 skaters will now be required
for levels Freestyle 6-10.
New requirements for each of these levels.
Any competition director using "The Edge"
software will need to incorporate these revisions
into the computer program.

1.
Ice Dancing tests 1-10 may now be taken solo or with a
partner.
2.
A new series of Free Dance tests 1-10 has been created.
3.
Couple Test 9 now requires the “circular” mandatory
dance step sequence.
4.
Pair 6 test now requires the “serpentine” mandatory
dance step sequence.
5.
When testing the program portion of a freestyle test; if
the skater fails to perform one of the required elements to the
passing standard, the skater will be permitted to try that one
element again after the program has been completed. If the
skater completes the required element on this retry, then the
skater shall pass the test. If the skater fails again to perform
that one required element to the passing standard, then the
skater will receive the score of incomplete on the program
portion of the test and will need to skate the program again at
another test session

If a USFS skater has passed the Senior freestyle test,
they must compete no lower that freestyle 8.

Jumps,
Spins, Lifts & Intersections:
Lifts
are restricted to the teen skating and dance events only.
The lifting hand of the lifter(s) should not extend higher than
their head(s).
Acrobatic
lifts: moves in which the skater is only held by the blade(s),
foot (feet), leg(s), arm(s) and swung around. Acrobatic
lifts are not allowed. All lifts where the lifted skater(s)
is in a totally vertical sustained position with the head down
are considered an expression of acrobatics and therefore
illegal. Assisted vaults or other lifts where the lifting skater
is rotating around himself are allowed provided there is no
sustained, totally vertical position with the head down.
Backward
spiral intersections are not allowed at any level.
Penalties:

Correctness for Formation teams who do lifts or acrobatic moves

Tech. Merit for Skating or Dance teams who do lifts, restricted
lifts, backward spiral intersections or acrobatic moves.
Jumps
(single rotation and below) are permitted at any level in the
skating and dance categories.

are permitted in the skating and dance categories with less than
half the team performing the jump at any time.
Spins
are restricted to upright spins only in the Tot & all Youth
(Junior Youth, Youth and Senior Youth) age groupings.
Any
spins are allowed at the Teen and Adult skating levels.
No
lifts or rotation jumps allowed at the formation level.
No
double or triple jumps are allowed at any level.

Attire
We
strongly suggest teams use a method called sewing hair to secure
hair for performances. Bobby pins are not allowed.
Costumes
that alter the surface of the ice are not permitted. Items
that fall from a costume would alter the surface of the ice.
If the item that falls is picked up immediately after the
performance no deduction will be given.
Penalties:
2.0
Correctness/technical merit for teams that do not retrieve
fallen items from the ice immediately after the performance.
